West Rim Designs is comprised of husband and wife, Jason and Mishel Smith. Mishel is a former music educator whose love for art and nature has led to the designs seen in her wearable art. As a high school choral director, she saw the need for beautiful jewelry to enhance various uniforms and costumes at a reasonable price. In addition, her experience in set design allows for an unusual use of color and texture to create beautiful, yet affordable hand-made jewelry. Although her connection to education has now shifted to evaluation of students with special needs, the creative juices continue to flow through West Rim Designs.

Jason has a diverse background and is currently employed in the field of fine art. Each life experience along the way has fed the artistic creative nature on some level whether it was realized or not. While hesitant to refer to himself as an artist he is most content while pursuing artistic endeavors in a quiet reflective environment. Jason is an accomplished musician and songwriter who discovered a love for photography and web design as an adult after reaching a musical plateau.
